Types of plants

Plants are living things. There are different types of plants. (Las plantas son seres vivos. Hay diferentes tipos de plantas).

Parts of a plant

The roots hold the plant in the ground. They absorb all the nutrients the plant needs to grow.

(Las raíces sostienen la planta en el suelo. Absorben los nutrientes que la planta necesita para crecer).

The stem holds the plant up and carries water to the leaves and flowers.

(El tallo sostiene la planta y lleva el agua a las hojas y las flores).

The leaves make food for the plant using water, sunlight, minerals from the soil and air.

(Las hojas fabrican comida para la planta usando agua, luz del sol, minerales de la tierra y aire).

Flowers are colourful and smell nice to attract insects.

(Las flores son coloridas y huelen bien para atraer a los insectos).

Fruits are healthy and delicious. Seeds are inside the fruit.

(Las frutas son sanas y deliciosas. Las semillas están dentro de la fruta).
